February is Advising/Registration Month

Published:

Officials in Student Services have announced that registration is now open for fall 2015 and spring 2016.

Sherry Douglas, senior director of student services, said students should contact their academic advisor to schedule an advising appointment.

If students are uncertain about the name of their academic advisor, they should check their MyCSC Student Dashboard, where advisors are listed in the left-hand menu.

Graduate students and seniors can begin to register Feb. 2, juniors can begin Feb. 4, sophomores Feb. 6 and freshmen on Feb. 11.

New students and transfers can enroll for the upcoming academic year beginning Feb. 16. They should check their MyCSC To Do list and complete the Ready To Register form after it is available on Feb. 16 to begin the enrollment process, register for on-campus registration events and New Student Orientation.

When meeting with academic advisors, students should plan to discuss the four-year course rotation in current major, advising templates, career options, pre-requisites and Essential Studies Program requirements for graduation.

Students should also ask faculty to discuss opportunities which provide experience such as internships, study abroad, clubs, etc.

Following appointments with advisors, students are encouraged to check their CSC email for messages from START which include links to make major and advisor changes online, according to Douglas.

Students are encouraged to self-enroll using the Enrollment tab at the top the MyCSC Student Dashboard or through Degree Audit in the left-hand menu.

Those with a past due balance or account hold must address these issues prior to enrolling.

START advisors are available to help with questions Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
