CHADRON – Anne DeMersseman has been named the Associate Vice President of Human Resources at Chadron State College, President Randy Rhine announced Friday.

DeMersseman, a native of Rapid City, South Dakota, will begin her duties Sept. 8. She will replace Derby Johnson, who has been the interim director of human resources since June 1.

“We are incredibly pleased to welcome a person of Anne’s caliber to the human resources department at Chadron State College,” Dr. Rhine said. “She has the traits we were looking for in the associate vice president position and I am confident she’ll guide our efforts in a professional and meaningful way. She has experience in higher education, including Title IX, as well as a business background in the private sector. I believe she will prove to be a valuable asset to the employees and students at Chadron State College.”

DeMersseman has seven years of experience working in human resource offices, most recently serving as the human resources manager at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Prior to working in higher education, she was the consultant and project manager at Trusight, and she also worked as the human resource and operations manager for Jefferson Wells.

DeMersseman also has a background in business, thanks to eight years of employment at Green Tree Financial Servicing.

She owns two bachelor’s degrees – one in business and one in English Literature – from the College of St. Thomas, and she has a mini masters of project management and financial management from the University of St. Thomas. Additionally, she is a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, a member of Toastmasters, belongs to the Society for Human Resource Management and is a fly-fishing instructor for South Dakota’s Becoming an Outdoors Woman program.

At Chadron State, DeMersseman will direct the administration, coordination and assessment of the human resources office, including employment services, employee relations, recruitment, retention, employee data management, payroll/compensation, benefits, and telecommunications and Title IX issues. DeMersseman will also serve as a liaison between the CSC campus and the Nebraska State College System General Counsel and Vice Chancellor for Employee Relations on all human resource related matters.
