CSC rodeo team to open spring schedule

The Chadron State College rodeo team will open its spring schedule this weekend when Gillette College stages its annual rodeo. It will be the first of five rodeos in the Central Rocky Mountain Region this spring.

The CSC team members have been making good use of the Coffee Pavilion while preparing for the spring schedule.

At the end of fall schedule, which also included five rodeos, Wyatt Clark of Wellfleet was second in the regional bareback riding standings with 515 points, just 40 behind the leader, to pace the CSC entries.  

Also ranking high among the cowboy was Prestyn Novak of Newell, S.D., third in tie down roping; Jeff Cover of Ashby, fifth in saddle bronc riding; Chasen Cole of Hermosa, S.D., eighth in bull riding; and Taz Olson of Prairie City, S.D., seventh and Jake Kasselder of Ericson, Neb., tenth in steer wrestling.

Among the cowgirls, Shaylee Hance of Circle, Mont., is seventh in goat tying and Amy Deichert of Spearfish, S.D., is tenth in both barrel racing and goat tying.

March 27-29 at Eastern Wyoming, Torrington

April 10-12 at Colorado State, Fort Collins

April 17-19 at Casper College

May 1-3 at University of Wyoming

June 14-20 at College National Finals Rodeo, Casper
