CSC faculty and staff honored for years of service, teaching excellence

Dr. Jamie Wada was named the CSC recipient of the Teaching Excellence award. In addition to a $1,000 award and plaque, Wada now becomes a finalist for the Nebraska State College System Teaching Excellence Award to be announced later this year. Dr. Beth Wentworth, associate math professor, was the other nominee for the CSC award.

Wada, justice studies associate professor and department chair, began teaching in the CSC Justice Studies department in 2007.

He has been Faculty Senate secretary, Student Senate adviser, faculty athletic representative and served on numerous committees including the Platinum Eagle Awards, Student Trustee Selection, Research Institute, Student Conduct Review, Academic Suspension, Study Abroad, Athletic Administration, Presidential Committee on Athletics and Team George.

Wada has been involved in the London Study Abroad program and has been the adviser or co-adviser of Omega Phi Rho, Criminal Justice Club, Nights of Country Swing, Women’s Rugby, Outdoor Adventure Club and the Weightlifting Club. He also served as the speaker for the December 2014 CSC graduate commencement exercises.

Retirees honored at the event included Katherine Bahr, Richard Bird, Margaret Crouse, Timothy Donahue, Annette Langford, Lewis Myers, Gayle Stetson and Steve Taylor.

In addition, faculty and staff members who have been at the institution 10 years or longer were recognized for celebrating special anniversaries of employment.
