CSC announces new faculty and staff

CHADRON – As the fall 2015 semester begins, there are some new faces as well as some familiar faces working in new places at Chadron State College.

Two new faculty members are joining the School of Business, Entrepreneurship, Applied, and Mathematical Sciences and Sciences.

Although she has been a member of the Family and Consumer Science department since January 2015, Erin Norman is recognized as a new faculty member. She will teach nutrition and wellness courses.

Terrie Wood will be a lecturer in the business department. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from CSC. Wood, whose first teaching job was at CSC from 1989 to 1997, will be responsible for several economics courses and also teach an entrepreneurship course.

Three new faculty are joining the School of Education, Social Work, Human Performance and Psychology.

Assistant professor of education Dr. John Buttiglieri will work with assessment and teach a variety of freshman and sophomore-level education courses including multimedia technology, introduction to teaching and elementary and middle school math.

Dr. Lori Entzminger, a Rapid City native, will teach special education courses. She said she was attracted to CSC’s emphasis on quality teaching and the small class sizes which will allow her to get to know her students.

Brittany Helmbrecht, a new instructor in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation department, will be responsible for teaching Personal Health and Wellness, fitness activities and team sport activities. She graduated from Central Michigan University with her bachelor’s and the University of Nebraska-Kearney with her master’s.

Five new faculty members are joining the School of Liberal Arts in the art, English, music and communication arts departments.

Rod Clause, who earned two bachelor’s degrees from CSC and his master’s from Fort Hays State University, will be an instructor in the art department teaching three dimensional media such as glass blowing, ceramics and sculpture. He has been an art adjunct since 2014.

Dr. Kimberly Cox will join the English faculty as an assistant professor. She graduated from the University of California-Riverside with a bachelor’s in English and Stony Brook University with a Ph.D. in Victorian literature.

Brooks Hafey, who has been a member of the CSC music department for several years, will now be an assistant professor of music instructing courses in piano, piano pedagogy, collaborative piano and music history.

Dr. Janice Haynes, will be an assistant professor in the Communication Arts program. She earned her master’s in mass communication from the University of Houston and her doctorate in communication studies from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Mckay Tebbs joins the music faculty as an assistant professor instructing music theory foundation, guitar classes and private guitar lessons. Tebbs, who is pursuing a doctorate in music from the University of Southern California, will also lead the guitar ensemble.
