Sheridan, Wyo. – After being the runner-up in the team standings at the first two rodeos in the Central Rocky Mountain Region this fall, the Chadron State College cowboys took top honors with room to spare at the Sheridan College rodeo this past weekend.

The Chadron State team tallied 595 points while Laramie County Community College at Cheyenne was second with 465, followed by Casper College with 450.

The CSC men now have 1,535 points for the season. Eastern Wyoming is second with 1,147.

While no one from Chadron State won an event at Sheridan, four CSC entries finished second and eight others also earned points by placing among the top six.

One of the four runners-up was Prestyn Novak of Newell, South Dakota, who also was the rodeo’s all-around cowboy.

Novak was second in tie down roping in 11.4 and 11.6 seconds. He also placed fourth in the first go-round of steer wrestling in 6.4 seconds. Although he took a no time in the steer wrestling finals, he accumulated more points than any other cowboy who participated in two events.

Bareback rider Justin Kissack of Gillette, Wyoming, with scores of 56 and 67 points and steer wrestler Lane Day of Bartlett, Nebraska, in 6.1 and 5.6 seconds were the other Chadron State men who were the runners-up in their events.

Chadron State’s fourth runner-up was Shelby Winchell of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, in goat tying. Her times were 9.1 and 9.4 seconds. She has now been first once and second twice in goat tying this fall.

· Rolly Fortune of Interior, S.D., third in tie down roping in 12.7 and 11.0 seconds.

· Brandi Cwach of Geddes, S.D., third in goat tying in 9.3 and 9.4 seconds.

· Colin Dibbern of Riverdale, Neb., fourth in saddle bronc riding with 49 and 63 points.

· Nate McFadden of Elsmere, Neb., rode only one of his barebacks, but placed fifth in the overall standings after only three entries earned scores in the finals on Sunday.

· Devin Dibbern of Riverdale, Neb., sixth in steer wrestling in 6.0 (first in the go-round) and 11.0 seconds. He also was among the 10 saddle bronc finalists and was fourth in the all-around standings.
