CHADRON – The Campus Arboretum Volunteers will meet Saturday, May 30, to work on a living fence of pollinator-friendly plants between Eagle Ridge housing and 10th Street, according to Lucinda Mays, CSC horticulturist. Those interested in helping should meet at 9 a.m. in the Andrews Hall parking lot.

The change of date was made due to excess osil moisture, according to Mays.

Volunteers are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring gardening tools and gloves. The group members will prepare the soil, sow a diverse selection of wildflower seeds and plant trees and shrubs.

“We are reinstating native trees, shrubs and grasses where for years we mowed hay. As a result, students in CSC wildlife biology, rangeland and botany will have an outdoor classroom to learn about northwest Nebraska’s Pine Ridge region; and neighbors will enjoy the beautified landscapes, part of the college’s long range plans to create a vibrant, visually pleasing campus and entrance,” Mays said.

For more information, contact Mays at 308-430-4186 or lmays@csc.edu.
