Campus Arboretum Volunteers plan Sept. 19 work day

Published:

CHADRON – Gardeners always have to plan ahead. In keeping with that tradition the Chadron State College Campus Arboretum Volunteers will have a "Fall Work for Spring Planting" work day Saturday, Sept. 19.

Projects will include seed collecting, soil work, and transplanting perennial wildflowers to the CSC Living Fence between Eagle Ridge and Tenth Street, according to CSC horticulturist Lucinda Mays.

For this meeting, the group will meet in the parking lot south of the Math and Science building. After sharing coffee, volunteers will begin collecting seeds on the former greenhouse site north of the softball field.

Mays advises volunteers to dress appropriately for the weather, bring drinking water and wear close-toed shoes and gloves. Families with children are always welcome and snacks will be provided. The work day will end promptly at noon.
