Eight members of the Chadron State College art faculty will be displaying their work in the annual art department faculty show in Memorial Hall’s Main Gallery Feb. 9-20.

The artists include Richard Bird, Laura Bentz, Daniel Binkard, Rod Clause, Mary Donahue, Dewayne Gimeson, Sarah Polak and Nancy Sharps.

The theme of the show is “Art Infinity” based on the horizontal figure eight symbol used to represent infinity. Types of media will include glass, pottery, graphic design, oil and watercolor paintings, collages, prints, sculpture and an interactive display.

The public is welcome to attend the show Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and a reception Thursday, Feb. 12, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the lobby of Memorial Hall.

Former CSC art instructor and 2012 Governor’s Arts Award recipient, Don Ruleaux, will also display his silverpoint art pieces in Gallery 239 in a show titled “Familiar Faces” beginning Feb.9.

All the Ruleaux pieces in the show are silverpoint portraits of local people. A silverpoint drawing is made using a silver wire on a surface, often prepared with a primer. It is an exacting technique using fine lines that cannot be erased. Silverpoint is one of several types of metalpoint used by artists since ancient times.

The public is welcome to attend the shows Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Either gallery exhibit can be viewed by appointment. Call 308-432-6317 for more information.
