A pair of seconds led the Chadron State College rodeo team at the Lamar College rodeo over the weekend.

Graduate student Wyatt Clark of Wellfleet continued to fare well in bareback riding and freshman Brandy Cwach of Geddes, S.D., was the runner-up in breakaway roping.

Clark placed second in the opening go-round of bareback riding with 79 points and won the championship session on Sunday with 80 points to take second in the averages. Dylan Wahlert of Casper College edged Clark by a single point for the top honors.

Cwach placed eighth in the first go-round of breakaway roping in 3.0 seconds and was second in the short go-round in 3.8 seconds to finish second overall among the 93 contestants.

Another Chadron State breakaway roper, Abbie Frey of Crawfordsville, Ind., tied for second and third in the opening go-round in 2.6 seconds, but did not catch her second calf. Because several other finalists also did not post a time on their second runs, Frey tied for fifth and sixth in the averages.

Two more CSC entries also placed at Lamar. Senior Amy Deichert of Spearfish, S.D., tied for fourth and fifth in goat tying in 8.1 and 9.0 seconds and freshman Taz Olson of Prairie Center, S.D., finished sixth in steer wrestling in 6.4 and 6.1 seconds.

Seniors Lane Day of Bartlett and Derek Powers of Arthur were third in the first go-round of the team roping in 7.9 seconds, but took a no time in the finals. Goat tier Shaylee Hance of Circle, Mont. , also were among the 10 finalists in her event, but she did not place among the top six.

The final rodeo of the fall season in the Central Rocky Mountain Region will be this weekend at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne.
