Student symposium begins Tuesday

 Hours of the symposium are: Tuesday 11 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Wednesday 8 a.m.–8 p.m., and Thursday 9:30 a.m.–6 p.m. The Learning Commons is located on the second floor of the library.

Tuesday, presentations by English Composition students will include their unique perspectives on life and family. A panel discussion by Social Work majors will address observations of human behavior at different life stages.

Wednesday, Family and Consumer Science students will share major research projects about the power of play in children’s lives. Also, English Composition students will conduct a panel discussion about global human issues such as war, environment, and personal space.

Students enrolled in Comparative Politics will give poster presentations including the topics of immigration, group conflict, environmental politics and political economics in different countries.

Final group projects will be presented by students studying Theories/Practice of Persuasion. Their projects are designed to assess their ability to apply theoretical knowledge to real life situations.

First Year Inquiry classes will give presentations about community service projects and the concept of “enemy” as represented in philosophy, religion, political science, literature, art, and media.

A Personal Health and Wellness class will present the negative effects of the drug LSD.

Thursday, presentations will include topics such as global politics and world religions, early childhood lesson plans and learning outcomes, and physical science capstone projects

Some online and very large classes will have poster displays without student participation. All posters will be on display during the entire symposium.

The times in the program available at the library indicate when students will be present for a question-and-answer session about their work.
