Chadron State College social work major Laura Krieger of Columbus, Nebraska, has been named the recipient of the 2014 Nebraska Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers scholarship.

This marks the second consecutive year that a student from the CSC Social Work program has received the statewide award, competing against many larger institutions. Dani Grothe of Papillion, Nebraska, was the 2013 scholarship winner.

The $500 scholarship will be presented to Krieger at the annual NASW-NE conference in September in Omaha.

Terry Werner, executive director of the NASW-NE, said in the award letter to Krieger, that the organization applauds her leadership, volunteer work and involvement with the Nebraska Chapter of NASW. Werner added that the award recognizes Krieger's contributions to social work and the social work profession.
