Perlinski elected to Nebraska Section, Society for Range Management office

Perlinski, an assistant professor in the Applied Sciences department, will serve as a council member this year. Next year, he will be a council member and chair the public affairs committee. The third year he will serve as president-elect, the fourth year he will serve as president and the fifth year he will hold the past-president office.

“This year I’ll be there to learn about how the section operates and how business is conducted,” he said.

Perlinski will lead a group of eight CSC students to the Society for Range Management Annual International Meeting Jan. 30 through Feb. 7, 2015, in Sacramento, California.

CSC students will be presenting posters as well as participating in the Undergraduate Range Management Exam (URME). Students will also have the opportunity to meet some of the top professionals in the field of rangeland management speaking on this year’s theme, “Managing Diversity,” according to Perlinski.

He is looking forward to serving on the Nebraska board as well as the opportunity to be informed about developments in the rangeland management community.

“I think it will help open some doors for the range management program at CSC. We have some exciting changes going on in the program with the new facilities and new courses so this will help me share some of those things with the range management community in Nebraska and beyond,” Perlinski said.

As president, Perlinski will supervise and lead the Nebraska Section which includes planning the Nebraska Section meeting. He is excited that the CSC Rangeland Complex will be complete the year he determines the location of the meeting.

Members of the SRM consist of ranchers, extension specialists, government agency employees, researchers, faculty members, and students who have an interest in rangeland management.

The mission of the organization is to promote and enhance the stewardship of rangeland and related ecosystems and associated renewable resources to meet human needs based upon scientific research and sound principles, according to Perlinski.
