There is still time for Chadron State College volunteers to sign up to do something big. The closing date for sign-up is Friday.

More than 450 volunteers are signed up for the second annual Big Event set to take place April 26.

The Big Event staff encourage all CSC students, staff and faculty to become a part of this tradition and help give back to the community of Chadron and the surrounding areas.

Kick off for The Big Event begins at noon at Elliot Field. Volunteers will sign in and be assigned to job sites throughout the area. Each volunteer will receive a Big Event T-shirt, a free lunch and be entered into a drawing for prizes.

Many of CSC’s clubs and teams have already committed to work during The Big Event. Some of the 50 current job sites include: Wilson Park, Crestview Nursing Home, Trunk Butte Christian School, Museum of the Fur Trade, the Chadron Native American Center and many more.

The Big Event at Chadron State College is a student-based, community service day designed to thank the community of Chadron for all of its years of support. The tradition began April 20, 2013. The first year attracted over 400 CSC student, staff and faculty volunteers who helped at 15 job sites.

To sign up for The Big Event or for more information, visit the website at http://csc.edu/thebigevent.

The Big Event began at Texas A&M University in 1982 and now occurs at 72 campuses across the nation.
