New Student Orientation to begin August 14

Students who have not yet registered or parents who need to add additional guests may do so until Wednesday, August 6 by clicking the NSO image on the CSC home page or after 9 a.m. Aug. 14.

START advisor Danielle Lecher said approximately 485 freshmen and 125 transfers from 28 states and several international countries are registered for the annual event.

NSO student leaders along with volunteers from the campus and community will assist students moving into the CSC residence halls Aug. 14 from 8 a.m. to noon.

A One Stop Shop of student services including START, health services, parking passes and student IDs will be in the CSC Student Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Where’s my Classroom?” tours will originate from the Student Center guided by NSO leaders from 1 to 3 p.m.

Parents are invited to a social and reception at the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center from 2 to 4 p.m. where they can relax and meet and greet other parents and CSC staff.

The official welcome for the Class of 2018 will be presented CSC President Dr. Randy Rhine at Elliott Field at 4:30 p.m. followed by a family picnic under the large tent near the Student Center.

The majority of programming for incoming students and their family members will take place Friday, Aug. 15.

Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. in the Dining Hall followed by a welcome at 9 a.m. in the Ballroom. Breakout sessions at various locations on campus will be conducted for students, parents and guests from 10 a.m. to noon.

Lunch and an Information Fair will take place from 12 to 2 p.m. in the Student Center and the Library Learning Commons.

Speakers in concurrent sessions from 2 to 4 p.m. will explain various campus entities and services. The locations and specific topics of the sessions will be listed in the official agenda distributed at check-in.

The backyard barbecue and “down home” party begins at 5 p.m. on the lawn east of the Student Center. Music by Victory Underground, yard games, and prizes are scheduled from 6 p.m. until dark. Faculty and parents are welcome to attend the backyard gathering.
