Five CSC entries place at Sheridan College rodeo

SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Led by bareback rider Wyatt Clark, five Chadron State College contestants placed among the top four in their events at the Sheridan College rodeo over the weekend.

A graduate student from Wellfleet, Clark scored 63 and 73 points on his barebacks to win the event at the Sheridan rodeo. He also won was the bareback riding winner at the Chadron State rodeo the previous weekend and now has the lead in the Central Rocky Mountain Region.

A freshman, Chasen Cole of Hermosa, S.D., was the runner-up in the bull riding at the Sheridan rodeo. He was fifth in the first go-round with 58 points and was second in the championship session on Sunday with 69 points.

Cole is the first Chadron State bull rider to place in the event since early in the 2011-12 season.

Kodi McFadden, a junior from Elsmere, finished third in breakaway roping. She tied for seventh in the first go-round in 3.9 second and was third in the final go-round in 4.7 to place third overall.

Both of CSC’s other placewinners were fourth in their events. They are senior Amy Deichert of Spearfish, S.D., with times of 17.88 and 18.32 seconds in the barrel race and freshman Prestyn Novak of Newell, S.D., in 5.3 and 4.9 seconds in steer wrestling. 

Novak also was among the 10th finalists in tie down roping. Other CSC entries making the finals were Nate McFadden of Dunning in bareback riding and Wyatt Clark and his brother Jaden, who attends the University of Wyoming, in team roping.

Lamar College will host the region’s fourth rodeo of the season this weekend.
