Fine arts reunion at CSC this weekend

Nearly 80 Chadron State College alums who were active in the fine arts during the mid-1960s through the late 1970s will be in town this week for a reunion to correspond with Fur Trade Days.

The idea for the reunion was sparked by four grads—Jennie May Donnell Kraai, Bob and Jan Reichenberg and David Starkweather—all of whom live in the Pacific Northwest. They received assistance from the CSC Alumni Office and Kim Kirkpatrick Huckfeldt, also a CSC fine arts participant during the 1970s and the division secretary at the college the past few years.

Huckfeldt said a dinner is planned for Friday night, it’s probable that many of the visitors will participate in the parade Saturday morning, there’ll be an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Hall and a buffet is scheduled for Saturday night. A brunch Sunday morning will wrap up the reunion.

“Knowing this bunch, I’m sure there’ll be some entertainment along the way,” Huckfeldt said.  “I also understand that several of them are bringing some art work and things to show us what they’ve been doing the past 35 or so years. It should be pretty lively.”

A slide show video with about 60 scenes from the past has been prepared by Dewayne Gimeson to help bring back memories of “the good old days.”
