Interior construction on three Eagle Ridge student housing units on the east side of the Chadron State College campus is progressing on schedule, according to Sampson Construction site supervisor Brian Anderson.

The walls on the westernmost unit are ready for texture and painting. The unit’s floor, made of a gypsum and concrete mixture known as Gyp-Crete, will be poured soon and then covered with carpet. The structure is also ready for cabinets and plumbing fixture installation, according to Anderson.

All framing, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning is complete in the center unit. The building has passed the State Fire Marshal’s inspection and crews are preparing to install insulation and sheetrock.

Plumbing and electrical work is still being completed in the easternmost unit. Fire sprinklers are roughed-in and ductwork is complete. Windows and doors for the main entryways have yet to be installed.

Anderson said the units are purposely proceeding in progressive stages.

Detail work and paint colors are still being finalized for the exterior of the three buildings. They are scheduled to open for junior and senior CSC students prior to the beginning of the fall semester, August 18.
