About 50 high schools from three states and more than 1,200 students are registered for the 54th annual Chadron State College Scholastic Contest April 4.

Complete information, including results after the contest, can be seen at: csc.edu/scholastic/.

The Eagle Cook-Off, which takes place at 11:15 a.m. in the Burkhiser foods lab, is an annual favorite and as the major hands-on competition, it draws a crowd of spectators. Complete information, including results after the contest, can be seen at: csc.edu/scholastic/.

Each senior who wins first place in a contest receives a Scholastic Achievement Award for in-state tuition at CSC for the fall and spring semesters of the 2014-2015 school year.

Medals will be awarded to the top three places in each test. Certificates of Merit will be awarded to those finishing in the top 25 percent of each test, and a plaque will be presented to the top school of each of the five divisions. All awards are mailed to the winners the week following the contest.

Activities planned for students between tests include an interactive trailer offering numerous X-box, Wii and other electronic game stations. Horse-drawn wagon rides, campus tours, ping-pong, pool and board games and games in the Nelson Physical Activity Center will also be offered.

Dr. Wendy Jamison will once again organize a “Human G-nome” trivia scavenger hunt between the Student Center and Crites Hall and the CSC football scrimmage will take place at 10 a.m.

CSC students who are members of the Blue Key and Cardinal Key honor societies will serve as guides assisting the contestants in finding the buildings and rooms for their tests.

Guests on campus will also be able to view displays in the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center, Memorial Hall, Math and Science building, and Burkhiser between tests. A blood splatter and forensic exhibit will be open on the third floor of Old Admin from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Events in the Reta King Library will include snacks, tours, putt-putt golf and an information technology quiz with prizes.
