Annual jazz festival set for March 24
The annual Chadron State College High Plains Jazz Festival will be held March 24 in the Memorial Hall Auditorium from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
Approximately 130 middle and high schools students from Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming will bring both jazz choirs and jazz bands to perform jazz music.
Schools attending include Alliance Middle School, Jones County Middle School, Upton High School, and Ogallala Middle and High School. Sessions will include a performance, critique, and clinic.
The CSC Birds, guitar ensemble, jazz band, and jazz choir from CSC will also perform for the area schools.
A final performance will include a jam session at 3 p.m. where students can improvise with other jazz musicians. The event is free and open to the public.
The event was initiated several years ago to foster jazz music in the middle, high school, and college settings.
