Yagil joins Nebraska State College System office

Yagil will work with the leadership at Chadron, Peru and Wayne State Colleges to identify and plan for partnerships and outreach programs with business, industry, education and state and local government.

 

He will work closely with the chancellor and the NSCS Board of Trustees to advance system and institutional strategic planning initiatives involving external and internal partnerships, academic program growth and innovation, and collaboration in support of the NSCS mission.

 

Yagil said, “I am excited about becoming the vice chancellor for academic planning and partnerships. I believe the state college system and its three colleges play a critical role in serving the people of Nebraska, and I look forward to joining the leadership team as we work to achieve its mission. In my role, I plan to collaborate with faculty, staff, and the leadership of the colleges, the greater community, and government agencies to enhance educational opportunities in Nebraska and beyond.”

 

As the special assistant to the president at Webster University in St. Louis since 2011, Yagil had become recognized as someone who could land in an environment and hit the ground running.

 

He was instrumental in the development of Webster’s first Global Leadership Academy and in reforming the Webster University Sustainability Coalition. Prior to his time at Webster, Yagil was the assistant to the dean, an assistant professor and an academic affairs specialist at the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

 

Chancellor Carpenter said, “We were pleased to find such a well-qualified candidate to join the NSCS staff. His experience in identifying, developing and advancing strategic initiatives in academics is key to leading the growth of partnerships and promoting Chadron, Peru and Wayne State in their local communities, Nebraska and the region as well as internationally.”

 

Yagil earned his bachelor of arts degree in geography and environmental sciences from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. He earned his master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in educational leadership and higher education.

 

Yagil’s wife, Malinda “Mindy” Murphy, is the instructional coordinator at Park Middle School in Lincoln. She is originally from Norfolk, Neb., and she, too, earned her doctorate in education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
