Student death saddens CSC community
The Chadron State College community is saddened by the death of freshman Sterling Atkins from Broken Bow, Neb.who passed away Saturday evening, Feb. 9.
Interim Executive Director of Student Affairs, Aaron Prestwich, said, “We extend our condolences to the Atkins family and ask that members of the CSC community remember the Atkins family in their thoughts and prayers.”
The Chadron Police Department and the Dawes County Attorney are investigating the death of Atkins, aged 18. He lost consciousness while watching television with a friend off campus and rescue efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. There is no evidence of drug or alcohol use and foul play is not suspected at this time.
