Spring Graves' Series set
The Spring 2013 Graves’ Lecture Series will open Feb. 12 with Dr. Barb Limbach and Dr. Wendy Waugh, faculty members in the Business Academy, speaking about “The Power of a Learner-Centered Environment: Objective to Assessment.”
This program, as well as others in the series, takes place at 7 p.m. in Room 108 of the Reta E. King Library and is open to the public free of charge. Live streaming of the event is available.
The series is named in honor of Dr. Dorset Graves, chairman of the CSC Division of Language and Literature for 29 years. After he ended his 32-year full-time faculty career in 1990, he continued to serve as an adjunct, or part-time, faculty member for 15 years.
The remainder of the Graves' Lecture Series this spring consists of presentations by CSC faculty and administration. On February 26, Dr. Tom Smith, Social and Communication Arts assistant professor, will speak on “Empire, Manliness and Post-Emancipated Identity: Progressive Pan-Africanism at the Turn of the Twentieth Century.” Dr. George Griffith, professor of English and Humanities, will present “The Wit of the Irish” on March 12 and Dean of the School of Liberal Arts, Dr. Jo Forstrom, will conclude the series with “Academe: OER, Intellectual Property, and Academic Integrity” on March 26.
