Social work major at CSC receives statewide honor
A social work major at Chadron State College, Dani Grothe, received an impressive undergraduate scholarship offered by the Nebraska Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
In order to be considered for the scholarship, applicants must be a member of the NASW and submit an application with an essay, a resume, and two references.
The Nebraska Chapter of NASW awards one $500 scholarship to an undergraduate social work student statewide and one $500 scholarship to a graduate social work student annually.
Grothe said, “I felt very honored to receive the scholarship for many reasons. It is always nice to be recognized by your professional organization and having not only me, but also Chadron State College’s social work program, recognized. I believe that our program is excellent, and I think that receiving this scholarship and being from the CSC program helped the other attendees of the conference see that too.”
Grothe traveled to Omaha to receive the scholarship at the annual Nebraska National Association of Social Workers conference Sept. 20.
“It was awesome to be honored at a conference full of people who seem to overlook Chadron often. I definitely plan on applying for the graduate student scholarship next year, since I plan on going on to graduate school after I graduate this May. It is very nice that this organization takes some of its money to invest in future social workers,” Grothe said.
