Over 400 volunteers to help with The Big Event

Organizers of “The Big Event,” a student-led community service project April 20 met Tuesday night to finalize their plans.The Big Event will focus on giving back to the community of Chadron for their continual support of Chadron State College throughout the years, according to Shaunda French, CSC assistant professor of communication.

Samuel Parker, a student intern with the event, said he is very impressed that over 400 CSC faculty, staff and student volunteers have come forward willing to perform service projects at 18 locations including planting trees, visiting nursing homes, and a food drive, clearing brush and painting. Indoor alternative projects are planned in case of inclement weather.

The following athletic teams plan to participate: wrestling, football, volleyball, track and men's basketball. Student organizations include: Ag Club, Student Alumni Counsel, International Club, Health Professions Club, NAFME, Blue Key, Cardinal Key, NOCS, Revive, Public Relations Club, Social Science Club, Psychology Club, Legal Studies Club, Residence Life Association, ROTC, Omega Phi Rho, Allies Club and FCS Club, Social Work Club and the Cheer Team.
