Native American event comes to campus
A cultural event designed to help the campus community learn more about the Native American culture is set for Nov. 22. It is sponsored by the Chadron State College Diversity Committee, the Native American Club and Resident Life Association.
November is being celebrated as Native American month on campus, with a display in the Student Center and star quilts on display in Crites Hall.
Faculty, staff and students will be invited to put paint hand prints on sheets located in the Student Center.
Around 6 p.m., the Red Cloud students will perform traditional dances and provide the history and meaning of the dances. There will be an opportunity for everyone in attendance to do a Round Dance or a Rabbit Dance. After this portion of the program, the Red Cloud students will demonstrate traditional hand games.
Due to weather conditions, original plans to set up tipis in the center of campus Friday have been postponed until the spring.
