The Chadron State College Office of International Education and the International Club are hosting various events to recognize International Education Week Nov.11-15.

Tamsyn Carey, CSC Project Director with Market Development, said, “International Education Week is an excellent way to celebrate and recognize our international students that hail from all corners of the globe and provide such a rich, diverse social and cultural viewpoint to our community.”

A series of posters featuring photos of and facts about other countries is currently displayed in the main hallway in the Student Center.

Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom, members of the International Club will perform musical and dance numbers from their cultures.

Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. in the Bordeaux Room in the Student Center, International Club students will present interesting facts about their countries.

Nov. 13 has been added as an additional night, with presentations beginning at 6 p.m. in the same location.

All events are free and the public is invited to attend. Countries that will be represented include Burma, China, Togo, Ethiopia, The Gambia, Honduras, Mail, Nepal, Serbia, Singapore, Taiwan (China), Thailand, Tunsia and Vietnam.

Carey added, “We invite faculty, staff, students, community members, schools, businesses and organizations to participate in these activities and learn more about various cultures and customs represented right here in Chadron, Nebraska.”

Doris Liang, a CSC student from China and president of the club, said the events are opportunities to celebrate the benefits of international education.

The Chadron State College Office of International Education is hosting an informational meeting about a new host family program called "International Friends of CSC" Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the CSC Student Center Scottsbluff Room.
