Gnomes passport program to acquaint students with campus and community
The Chadron State College Office of Student Activities is planning a passport program entitled “Where’s The Gnome?” to encourage students to become familiar with businesses in Chadron and the surrounding area plus offices on campus.
Laure Sinn, coordinator of student activities, said that over 75 businesses and offices are participating. They will each stamp the students’ passports when they visit their location and find the miniature gnomes in their store or office.
Tickets will be awarded according to the number of spots marked on the passport. For example, students visiting 55 stops on the passport will earn 4 tickets for prizes drawn during Casino Night at Late Night at the Pit Aug. 29 at 9 p.m.
Students can pick up the passport booklets beginning Aug. 19 at the START office, the Chadron Area Chamber of Commerce, the front desk of each CSC residence hall front desk, the Project Strive office in the Gold Room and the Information Desk in the Student Center.
Campus offices and retail businesses not already signed up should contact Laure Sinn at 308-432-6455 before Aug. 12 at 4:30 p.m. to participate. CSC faculty and staff may also contact Sinn to become involved.
Gnome Sweet Gnome has been set as the theme for Family Day and Gnome Gnome on the Range is the theme for the CSC Rodeo. Sinn said she hopes to see other groups on campus incorporate the gnome theme into their activities throughout the school year.
