CSC vocal concerts announced

Several fall choral concerts are scheduled by the Chadron State College music department.

Nov. 3 at 3 pm. in the Chadron Arts Center, the Chadron Community Choir and CSC Concert Choir will present a choir concert.

The Community Chorus will begin the program with a set of English, Irish, and American folk songs featuring Lauren Stephens on flute, Kimberly Murphy on violin, and Dr. James Margetts, Dr. Una Taylor and Kimberly Murphy on piano. The CSC Concert Choir will join them for their last folk song, “The Girl I Left Behind Me."

The CSC Concert Choir will continue the concert with several a cappella songs, and a secular program of poetic texts set to music. Their performance will feature a set of five pieces, composed by Eric Whitecre, which sets the poems of E. E. Cummings poems, the city and the sea, and a beautiful set of pieces based on thematic material and imagery inspired by nature.

Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. In the Chadron Arts Center, Arioso and the men's ensemble will perform a wide variety of musical selections. Pamela Shuler will play clarinet, Ann Sundberg on cello, and Kimberly Murphy will play drums and piano.

Nov. 17 at 3 p.m. In the Mari Sandoz Chicoine atrium, Dr. Una Taylor will perform a vocal recital, accompanied by Kimberly Murphy on piano.
