Although there was just two of them and both were in the same event, the Chadron State College women tied for sixth place in their team standings at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper last week.

Amy Tierney of Hot Springs and Shelby Winchell of Scottsbluff combined to earn 285 points. There were 36 women’s teams at the rodeo.

Tierney, who was third in the individual goat tying standings, finished with 145 points and Winchell tallied 140 points while tying for first in the first and third go-rounds of the same event.

Just two other CSC women’s teams have placed at the national rodeo. They are Jean Fuchs, the late Kathy Kennedy and Martee Meter, which finished fourth at the 1979 rodeo, and the duo of Shari Fisher and Bunny Pisacka that was fifth in 1983.

Tierney was the 17th Chadron State contestant to place among the top six in the finals standings of an event at the national rodeo.
