CSC rodeo queen applications now available

The 2013 Miss Chadron State College Rodeo pageant will take place Sept. 18-20 in conjunction with the annual CSC rodeo. Entries, including photos, must be submitted in person no later than 4 p.m. Sept. 13 to the CSC Conferencing Office in the CSC Student Center between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The 2013 CSC rodeo queen will win a custom belt buckle, banner, scholarship and other prizes including a traveling crown.

To be eligible to compete for the title, interested female contestants must be currently enrolled full-time at Chadron State College and be at least 18 and not older than 24 by the contest date. Contestants must have and maintain at least a 2.0 gpa.

All requirements for qualifying to compete are printed on the application which can be obtained from Kathy Mason in Crites Hall, room 336 or by emailing Laure Sinn at lsinn@csc.edu.

The tentative pageant schedule includes the following: Sept. 18 - orientation, photo shoot, visits with sponsors and a press conference and media interview in the CSC Student Center at 5 p.m.

Events for the public on Sept. 19 include the horsemanship competition at the Dawes County fairgrounds at 10 a.m. followed by a style show and speech competition at 5 p.m. at the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Sandoz Center. The speech topic for this year is “Heroes Homecoming”.

Coronation of the CSC rodeo queen is planned for 12 p.m. on Sept. 20 at the Dawes County fairgrounds.

A number of appearances on behalf of Chadron State College will be required of the successful queen candidate including the 2013 CSC Rodeo, 2013 CSC Family Day activities and 2013 CSC Homecoming parade and activities. Additional requirements are published in the application.

Miss Chadron State College Rodeo may add appearances that are approved by the committee including events and celebrations in her area.

Contestants may not hold any other queen title that will not be relinquished within two weeks following the CSC pageant. She will not be allowed to hold any other title for the year of her reign as Miss Chadron State College Rodeo unless she receives the title two weeks or less before the 2014 CSC pageant.

The titles of Miss Rodeo Nebraska, Miss Rodeo Wyoming, Miss Rodeo Colorado or Miss Rodeo South Dakota are the only exceptions.
