CSC ranks 43rd nationally in number of teaching degrees offered
According to a list showing colleges and universities with the widest range of education degree programs, Chadron State College ranks 43rd nationally with 45 different programs available.
The “Top U.S. Colleges & Universities for Teaching” report was released by The College Database, a free, non-commercial website dedicated to providing current and future post-secondary students and their families with accurate and valuable college and career-related information.
The College Database news release states that the organization uses only the most highly respected, authoritative data sets from the federal government and the Carnegie Foundation. Their primary sources and partners include:
· The NCES - the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education.
· IPEDS - the primary federal source for data on colleges, universities, and technical and vocational postsecondary schools in the U.S.
· Carnegie Classification - a framework widely used in the study of higher education, both as a way to represent and control for institutional differences, and also in the design of research studies to ensure adequate representation of sampled institutions, students, or faculty.
The methodology outlined below applies to the following rankings for teaching programs.
Each year, IPEDS collects updated degree program data from U.S. colleges and universities, which includes program name and degree level awarded. The following criteria apply to The College Database’s program-related lists: fully accredited colleges only, non-profit schools only, degree-granting institutions only, and number of degree programs designed to prepare students for careers in teaching, education administration, curriculum development, and student counseling.
“A very well deserved ‘Congratulations’ to Chadron State College. And a huge thank you for being a fantastic educational option for thousands of students,” said Teresa Mullins Managing Director of Communication and Partnerships in the news release.
