CSC Health Professions students accepted to professional programs

At their honors banquet on campus this week, 18 Chadron State College students were recognized for accomplishing their Health Professions studies at CSC and acceptance into professional schools. Director of Health Professions and RHOP, Jill Mack said she was extremely proud of the accomplishments of the students and is confident they will represent CSC well in their future endeavors.

Chadron State Foundation Director of Alumni and Development, Karen Pope, was the guest speaker for the event. She told the group of over 50 that they should get to know their faculty and stay in touch after leaving. “They give of their time and experience. They care about your success. Thank them,” Pope said.

Pope shared moving personal experiences through which her physician became part of her family. The trials she outlined included her son, Drew’s, battle against leukemia as a child, her husband, Andy’s, gunshot wound and her own bout with breast cancer.

“Life sends us tests. We don’t get to choose which tests. The one thing we can determine is our attitude. In your professions, it will be important for you to accomplish a balance between toughness and tenderness. The hugs we received from health care professionals were often because we needed encouragement, but sometimes because they did.” Pope said.
