CSC Family Day events planned for many ages and interests
Chadron State College is gearing up for one of its busiest weekends of the year, as students’ relatives travel to campus for the annual Family Day festivities.
Numerous events will include the first rodeo queen coronation since the 1970s. The Chadron State College Rodeo will run Friday evening through Sunday morning and the Eagles’ football game against Colorado Mesa University Mavericks will start at noon on Saturday.
Eagles volleyball team takes on Regis at 6 p.m. in the Armstrong Gym.
The rodeo at the Dawes County Fairgrounds has 500 entries from more than 15 colleges and universities of the Central Rocky Mountain Region. The football game at Elliott Field will feature introductions of players, cheerleaders, and their parents.
A Powder to the People 5K run starts at 8 a.m. at the Nelson Physical Activity Center. The race is free and open to the public. Participants wearing white race clothes will find that turn colors as the race progresses.
Saturday morning activities includes the music department’s pancake breakfast at Memorial Hall and football jersey rentals at the Student Center.
Families with at least three generations attending CSC will be honored at the Family Tree Brunch at 10 a.m. in the Student Center. This year’s honored families include: the Franklin/Preator family, the Cook family, the Kuhnel family, the Jones family, the Manke/Sides family and the Hartman family.
Softball team alumni are invited to take on the current CSC Softball team at 4 p.m.
