CSC celebrates national Week of the Young Child

The Chadron State College Child Development Center is requesting the citizens of Chadron and the state of Nebraska to come together for children during the Week of the Young Child™ April 14–20. As part of the national Week of the Young Child™ celebrated across the country, CSC is honoring young children and all those who make a difference in children’s lives.

“All young children need and deserve high-quality early learning experiences that will prepare them for life, and Chadron State College has a great opportunity to do our part to help young children,” said Dr. Kim Madsen.“Week of the Young Child™ is a time for our nation to recognize that Early Years are Learning Years® for all young children.”

The Chadron State College Child Development Center will host an open house for the public throughout the week of April 15-19 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. designed to help area residents to visit the center and appreciate the importance of the early years.

Week of the Young Child™, sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, is an opportunity for early childhood programs across the country, including child care and Head Start programs, preschools, and elementary schools, to hold activities to bring awareness to the needs of young children.

Young children and their families depend on high-quality education and care, which help children get a great start and bring lasting benefits to western Nebraska and the community of Chadron, according to Madsen. Week of the Young Child™ is a time to recognize the importance of early learning and early literacy, and to celebrate the teachers and policies that bring early childhood education to young children.

The Nebraska Association for the Education of Young Children supports and promotes early childhood professionals working together to improve professional practice and working conditions in early childhood education, and to build public support for high-quality early childhood education programs. It is the largest organization of early childhood educators and others dedicated to improving the quality of early education programs for children birth through age eight.
