Zack Muma, 19, son of Crystal Gibson, of Chadron, and Lee Muma, of Chadron, died Aug. 7 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

Muma graduated from Chadron High School in 2012 and would have been a sophomore at Chadron State College this fall majoring in art and geo-science. He had received a fine arts scholarship and the Crow Butte Resources scholarship.

He worked in the CSC Student Center Pit over the summer and was very well-liked by his fellow students and faculty, according to Senior Director of Student Affairs Aaron Prestwich.

"The college will miss Zack's positive influence overall and especially in the Student Center," Prestwich said.

Funeral services will be Aug. 17 at 10 a.m. at Chamberlain Chapel of Chadron

A memorial reception in honor of Muma will be held Aug. 17 from 12 to 4 p.m. in the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center. Friends and family are welcome to stop by, share refreshments and their remembrances of Zack.

A display of Zack's artwork will be displayed in the CSC Student Center during the first few weeks of school, according to Prestwich.
