An event at Chadron State College this week will pay tribute to the nation's servicemen and women of past and present while providing assistance to several veterans organizations in the Black Hills region. The Veterans Benefit Ball will be Friday, Nov. 2, from 6-10 p.m. in the Student Center ballroom.

Admission to the ball, dubbed "Help a Hero," is $3 per person or $5 per couple. The event will feature live music by the CSC Birds and refreshments.

Featured speakers are Patrick Russell, Lt. Franklin Annis, and Lou Marshall. Throughout the evening, a date and labor auction will occur where attendees can bid on several soldiers.

Proceeds from the ball will go to the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary to help with care items at the Veteran Affairs Hospital in Hot Springs, S.D., and the Veterans Outreach Center in Rapid City, S.D.

The CSC Public Relations Club and the CSC War Eagles Club are sponsoring the ball. More information may be obtained by contacting Shaunda French, CSC Public Relations Club advisor, 308-432-6302 or sfrench@csc.edu, or Tiffany Valandra, club president, 308-432-6061 or scliaison@csc.edu.
