Fans of Chadron State College music groups have the opportunity to see three concerts, each open to the public free of charge, in an eight-day period early this month.

The first is Sunday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. in the Chadron Arts Center, when the concert choir and men's ensemble will entertain an audience with a range of styles, including baroque and classical, and jazz and Caribbean.

Next will be the CSC jazz band on Friday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center ballroom. That concert will feature the big band sounds of many 20th century artists, and will include one piece written by CSC student Tanner Johns of Alliance.

The Chadron Community Chorus and Arioso women’s ensemble will play Sunday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m. in the Chadron Arts Center. The community group will perform choral favorites, including classical and arrangements of Tin Pan Alley songs. The women's ensemble will perform baroque, romantic, African and Irish music.

Also, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2-3, four music CSC music students compete in the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition in Lincoln. They are Zachary Henderson of Douglas, Wyo., Heather Walls of Loveland, Colo, Lauren Morris of Denver, and Heather Ann Hicks of Valentine. They will be accompanied by Una Taylor, CSC assistant professor of music, and Brooks Hafey, CSC accompanist.
