Jazz band, vocal groups plan concerts
The Chadron State College music department has two concerts on the schedule this week.
The first will be a show by the CSC jazz band on Friday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center ballroom. The Chadron Community Chorus and Arioso women’s vocal ensemble will play Sunday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m. in the Chadron Arts Center.
Dr. Michael Stephens, director of the jazz band, said Friday’s concert will feature the big band sounds of many 20thcentury artists, and will include one piece written by CSC student Tanner Johns of Alliance.
Dr. Una Taylor, who directs both vocal groups, said concert-goers can expect an eclectic program including classical choral repertoire as well as American popular music from the 1930s.
Both concerts are open to the public free of charge.
