The Fall 2011 semester in the Art Department was once again action-packed. The annual High School Art Day took place on Mon., Nov. 7, 2011 with over 120 high school students from Bayard, Bridgeport, Chadron, Crawford, Gordon/Rushville, Hay Springs, Hemingford, Kimball, Mitchell, Morrill, Oelrichs, and Sioux County. Twenty-eight CSC art majors helped instructors give workshops in drawing, painting, printmaking, graphic design, photography, clay and other media.

Also in November, the art department hosted visiting artist, Mel Clark of Hawaii. Mel gave demonstrations and instruction on creating large scale pieces in clay. The semester ended with the Senior Thesis Art Exhibit of five senior art majors. The show titled "I am an Artist, I am a Woman," featured the work of Amy Christie, Natalie McCune, Priscilla Sandoz, Tessa Sanford, and Ember Welsch. A variety of media ranging from paintings, prints, and photography to sculpture, clay, jewlery, and graphic design was shown.
