Zimmerman receiving UNL alumni award
Dr. Teresa Zimmerman, who leads the wildlife management program at Chadron State College, has been selected as one of four Young Alumni Achievement Award recipients for the University of Nebraska at Lincoln this spring.
She will be among the honorees at the annual Alumni Awards Banquet, An All-University Celebration, Thursday, May 5, at the Nebraska Champions Club.
Zimmerman, an assistant professor in the CSC Department of Applied Sciences, teaches 13 courses and has developed two new courses in wildlife and livestock disease and human dimensions. She has been on the CSC faculty since 2008.
In 2010 she was awarded the Nebraska Wildlife Society’s Professional of the Year Award. She is co-adviser of the Wildlife Club and the Women’s Rugby Club.
She organized the first student wildlife conclave for college students from across Nebraska, and it has become an annual event. She was elected to the Nebraska Wildlife Society Board of Directors and was selected as one of the nine participants from across the nation for the Wildlife Society’s Leadership Institute.
Zimmerman graduated from UNL with a bachelor’s degree in fisheries and wildlife in 2001. She also received a doctorate from South Dakota State University.
Also receiving honors at the event will be 22 other accomplished UNL alumni, eight students, a retired faculty member and an exceptional family.
