Veterans Ball set for Dec. 2

Published:

The Veterans Benefit Ball at Chadron State College will provide assistance to veterans organizations in the High Plains and Black Hills.

The ball is set for Friday, Dec. 2, from 6-9:30 p.m. in the Student Center ballroom. Admission is $3 per person or $5 per couple. The event will feature music and refreshments.

Featured speakers will be First Lt. Franklin Annis, assistant professor for CSC’s ROTC program, and Lou Marshall, member of the Chadron American Legion Auxiliary. Rounding out the evening will be an auction in which attendees can bid for dates with soldiers.

Proceeds from the ball will go to the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary to help with care items at the Veteran Affairs Hospital at Hot Springs, S.D., and the Women Veterans Homeless Shelter at Belle Fourche, S.D.

Two CSC clubs are sponsoring the ball: the Public Relations Club and the War Eagle Club. In addition to the Veterans Benefit Ball, the Public Relations Club is preparing a story wall for veterans and active-duty service members during the week leading up to the ball. Club members are asking people to participate by writing a story about their personal experiences with family and friends who have served their country. The story wall will be displayed in the Student Center during the week before the ball and during the event.
