Students to jump for new Guinness record
Chadron State College students will join a national effort to break the Guinness Book of World Records’ entry for the most people doing jumping jacks in a 24-hour period.
The CSC Health, Physical Education and Recreation department is inviting students and others to join the effort by doing one minute of jumping jacks Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 1 p.m. People may join the effort by showing up at the Nelson Physical Activity Center’s lower east entrance about 10 minutes early.
The activity is being promoted by National Geographic Kids magazine, and supports First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move campaign against childhood obesity. The record stands at 20,000.
Dawn Brammer, a faculty member in CSC’s HPER department, is encouraging individuals and groups, including classes, to joing the event. She said the event is expected to last no more than 15 minutes.
