Nebraska Wildlife Shortcourse set for June

Published:

Participants of a five-day seminar at Chadron State College will learn about the complex subject of wildlife management.

The Nebraska Wildlife Shortcourse will be Monday through Friday, June 20-24. The course may be taken for two hours of college credit, or just for personal advancement. The registration deadline is June 1.

Each day of the course will examine a different facet of wildlife management. Scheduled topics include birds, mammals, herpetofauna, fish and wildlife habitat. The mornings will be spent in the classrooms and the afternoons will be spent in the field observing wildlife.

Dr. Teresa Zimmerman and Dr. Chuck Butterfield, faculty members of CSC’s Department of Applied Sciences, are organizing the course and will be among its 16 presenters. The list includes experts from a variety of wildlife management services and institutions of higher education.

Zimmerman said the seminar is designed for people interested in wildlife, regardless of whether or not they have backgrounds in range management or biology.

The course has a $100 registration fee. The registration form may be obtained by visiting the “Student Opportunities” link of the Agriculture and Rangeland Management section of the CSC website, or by contacting Zimmerman at 308-432-6373 or tzimmerman@csc.edu.
