Chadron State College Galaxy Series organizers expect audience members to “laugh their antlers off” during “Deer Camp,” a musical comedy coming to Memorial Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m.

Appropriately scheduled to take the stage four days before the Nebraska firearm deer season opens, “Deer Camp” tells the tales of four men – Doogski, Digger, Diesel and Moose -- who have enjoyed annual get-togethers for deer hunting, but “between the beer and the bull” haven’t even fired a shot. The annual camp’s existence becomes threatened by the hunters’ unhappy wives, and the campers are given the ultimatum to either bag a deer or witness the camp’s demise.

“Deer Camp” was written by playwright Gene Jurek of Waite Park, Minn., with music by composer Doug Spartz of Pine River, Minn.

The show’s musical selections include “Mighty Hunters,” “She’s Playing Bingo,” “If I Were A Male Dancer,” “Coupon Clippin’ Ladies,” “River of Bre” and“The Grunt Horn Song.”
