Heineman speaking at NSCS student conference
Gov. Dave Heineman will be the featured guest when students of the three Nebraska State College System institutions gather at Chadron State College on Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 20-22.
Organizer James Bahensky of Anselmo, who serves as vice president of the CSC Student Senate, said the State Colleges Conference is intended to provide a means of fostering relationships between the three colleges, build leadership skills and share ideas to better serve students. He said it’s the first such conference of which he’s aware – at least since he’s been on campus.
Bahensky expects about 40 students to participate. Members of the CSC Student Senate and Campus Activities Board, Peru State College’s Student Senate executive board and CAB, and Wayne State College’s Student Activities Board are expecting to attend the event.
Heineman’s presentation, which is open to the public, will be 1:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at Memorial Hall. He is expected to speak about the impact of youth on Nebraska and its future, in addition to telling the students how they can make a difference.
While at CSC, the students will tour the campus cadaver and forensic laboratories, the planetarium and the High Plains Wildlife Collection of taxidermy.
