English student elected to regional office
Chadron State College student Nick Miller of Alliance has been elected to a regional office of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society.
Miller, who serves as president of CSC’s Sigma Tau Delta chapter, was elected as the associate student representative for the organization’s High Plains Region. Sigma Tau Delta consists of 750 chapters in six regions, and Miller’s post is one of just 14 student offices in the organization’s international and regional structure.
Miller begins his new duties half-way through a one-year term, filling the post vacated when the previous officeholder was promoted to student representative. As associate student representative, Miller will support the student representative in activities such as promoting Sigma Tau Delta and facilitating communication and between chapters in the region.
Miller was elected during the High Plains region’s fall gathering in Red Cloud, Neb., Sept. 23-24. Five CSC students were accompanied by CSC faculty members Dr. Lee Miller and Dr. Matthew Evertson on the trip. While there, the group visited the home of the late Willa Cather, a Nebraska native who became known for writing novels about Great Plains frontier life.
