Delegates from Poland university visit CSC
Chadron State College played host to a pair of special guests during the final week of the spring semester in May.
CSC received a visit from Dr. Andrezj Sygula and Ewa Swiadkowska of the Kalisz, Poland, recognized as the oldest city in the country. The two represented the President Stanislaw Wojciechowski Higher Vocational State School, which signed into an educational agreement with Chadron State in November 2010.
Sygula leads the institution’s division of information technology and online education, and also teaches information technology courses. Swiadkowska leads the institution’s international office.
The program of cooperation paves the way for the institutions to provide a dual Master of Business Administration Degree and to pursue mutually beneficial faculty and student exchange programs. The Poland institution was founded in 1999 and offers degrees in a variety to career fields, including business, education and nursing.
Dr. Lois Veath, CSC vice president for academic affairs, said Kalisz is an attractive city for a program of cooperation because it is home to a number of international businesses as well as an educational hub.
“Our students would be able to internships and short-term visits with these international businesses,” she said. “It will provide a huge international boost to our business graduate program. Business is becoming more global and this will help them learn about the European Union and international business practices. It will be valuable to our students, beyond the cultural experience of being in a foreign country.”
While on campus, the two delegates from Poland met with the business faculty to discuss details of the MBA and cultural exchange. During their visit – the first to the United States for either -- they toured a number of attractions, including the Black Hills.
Veath said a similar delegation from Chadron State will visit Poland later this year.
