Chess tournament is April 16
The 29th annual Chadron State College Chess Open will be Saturday, April 16, in the Sandoz Center at CSC.
Play begins at 10:30 a.m., but participants are requested to arrive at 10 o’clock for pairings. Each player will play four games. First-, second-, and third-round games will have a 90-minute limit and the final round a two-hour limit. Rounds begin at 10:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3:45 p.m., unless moved up by a consensus of players if an earlier round finishes earlier, which usually happens.
Chess clocks will be used, assigned to higher ranking players if too few clocks are available.
The entry fee of $8 pays for six trophies and refreshments. Pay the entry fee at the tournament.
The tournament is open to any chess player. Participants are requested to bring standard chess pieces and a board, and a chess clock if they have one.
