Band opening with new look Wednesday
A Chadron State College music group will open its spring semester performance schedule this week with a new singer and a new name.
The CSC Birds, formerly the CSC Jazz Birds, will perform at Wrecker’s Roadhouse on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 8 p.m.
Dr. Sandy Schaefer, who leads the Birds, said the group’s name change reflects the wider array of music the group plays. The band specializes in soul, funk and soul-jazz.
The Birds, under the direction of Dr. Sandy Schaefer, are introducing Christiane Roth of Hot Springs, S.D., as their a new singer and guitarist. She will sing "Midnight Hour" and "Stormy Monday Blues."
Other singers include Emily Lisko of Piedmont, S.D., and Trevor Reisig of Mitchell, Neb.
